The past two weeks we have spent our science/writing time learning about some "spooky" animals such as owls, bats, and coming up - spiders! Throughout these learning times students are totally engaged and interested in the content. I've had many kids ask for more books and information about the creatures - awesome! Also, I rarely hear a complaint about writing or reading harder texts during this time. When you are looking for things to read or learn about at home, try some of these non-fiction topics. It's amazing how creating an environment for curiosity and inquiry encourages further learning and thinking.
While our library day is Thursday, students are able to check out new books during their arrival time each day. That way if first graders are ready for a new book, or our library day is a day where there is no school (such as this week), they can still get a new book!
I can’t tell you how much I enjoy conferences as it gives me another chance to meet and connect with families. That time is so valuable so I truly appreciate you taking the time to stop by and talk about the great things your first grader is accomplishing! Thank you
